49ers sign Phillip Wheeler, cut Trindon Holliday

The San Francisco 49ers signed veteran inside linebacker Phillip Wheeler to a one-year deal. They cut kick returner Trindon Holliday, offensive guard Fouimalo Fonoti and wide receiver Lance Lewis. Wheeler, 30, was cut by the Miami Dolphins. Wheeler was signed to a five-year, $26 million. He started only four games last season.
