Jets to make Muhammad Wilkerson their franchise player

The New York Jets will name Pro Bowl defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson as their franchise player. It will cost them Q$15.7 million. No new deal is imminent. The Jets will likely have Wilkerson play under the tag this season. A tag and trade is an unlikely scenario. Wilkerson had 12 sacks last season. He's recovering quickly from a broken fibula suffered in the regular-season finale. "Mo is a very good player," Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said last week at the NFL Scouting Combine. "Obviously we'd like to have him with the organization going forward, but all options are on the table. We like Mo very much."
