Lions WR Golladay returns to practice, on track for debut

Detroit Lions wideout Kenny Golladay returned to practice Wednesday and is on track to make his season debut Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

Golladay missed the first two weeks of the season after injuring his hamstring on Sept. 9.

Golladay, 26, had 65 receptions for 1,190 yards and a league-high 11 touchdowns last season to earn Pro Bowl honors for the first time in his career. He has 163 catches for 2,730 yards and 19 scores in his first three seasons with the Lions.

The Lions are off to an 0-2 start. Quarterback Matt Stafford’s top target and deep threat, Golladay averaged 18.3 yards per catch last season.

Stafford has completed just two passes of more than 20 yards through the first two weeks after completing eight through the first two weeks last year.

“He’s one of the top wideouts in the league and he’s shown that,” Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday in a conference call. “His production the last years has been incredible. His style of play, his physical nature, you watch it, he’ll definitely bring a lot of juice to their offense.”

The Lions went with Marvin Hall and Quintez Cephus in Golladay’s absence.

As for Detroit’s defense, also dinged with a slew of hamstring injuries, cornerback Desmond Trufant (hamstring) is still out.
