Saquon Barkley, Xavier McKinney return to Giants’ facility

Star running back Saquon Barkley and second-year safety Xavier McKinney returned to the New York Giants’ team facility on Friday morning after further testing revealed false positive tests had landed them on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Giants later announced Barkley and McKinney were removed from the list. The team initially placed the pair on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday amid fears of an outbreak.

Running backs coach Burton Burns was one of 13 members of the organization to test positive Tuesday, and upon a retest, all but Burns came back negative. Running back Gary Brightwell remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Barkley, 24, has missed the past three games with a sprained ankle. He has 54 carries for 195 yards and two touchdowns in five games this season.

McKinney, 22, has recorded 39 tackles and two interceptions in eight games (seven starts) this season.

The Giants (2-6) are scheduled to host the Las Vegas Raiders (5-2) on Sunday, before having a bye week.
