Once the Supreme Court struck down PASPA in 2018, Rhode Island did not waste much time before implementing legalized sports betting.
In June 2018 the state budget, which included language that allowed legal sports betting, was approved. Five months later, on Nov. 26, the Twin River Casino in Lincoln accepted Rhode Island’s first official sports bet.
The state opened originally with just in-person betting only, but passed a bill into law in March 2019 that allowed for statewide mobile betting.
Is sports betting legal in Rhode Island?
Yes. Governor Gina Raimondo approved the 2018 state budget, which also allowed for legalized sports betting, and the first wagers were booked in November 2019 at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln. Rhode Island became the eighth state to approve sports betting.

Sportsbook Rhode Island approved mobile betting in March 2019 and is now fully operational, statewide.
