Former Ohio State QB Jack Miller transferring to Florida

Former Ohio State quarterback Jack Miller III is transferring to Florida to play for new coach Billy Napier.

“Excited to get to work!” Miller tweeted Tuesday with an image of himself in a Gators uniform.

Miller, a redshirt freshman who was the Buckeyes’ third-string quarterback this season, entered the transfer portal three weeks ago. He completed 7 of 14 passes for 101 yards in four games as a backup to Heisman Trophy finalist C.J. Stroud.

Miller was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020, ranked as the nation’s No. 13 pro-style QB by the 247Sports composite.

A spot opened up in Gainesville last week when starting quarterback Emory Jones announced his plans to transfer.

Jones passed for 2,563 yards with 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions this season for Florida (6-6), which finishes the season Thursday night in the Gasparilla Bowl against UCF (8-4) in Tampa, Fla.

Ohio State set to reinstate QB Jack Miller

No. 4 Ohio State is set to reinstate third-string quarterback Jack Miller, who was suspended after being charged with operating a vehicle under the influence.

Ohio State-focused website Lettermen Row said Miller pleaded guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge of reckless operation and paid a $150 fine. Coach Ryan Day said the suspension, which went into effect Nov. 5, was expected to be lifted Thursday.

Miller didn’t travel with the Buckeyes to Nebraska on Nov. 6 and also missed last Saturday’s win against Purdue.

The Buckeyes (9-1) host No. 7 Michigan State on Saturday in a game that could knock them out of contention for a berth in the College Football Playoff with a loss. Having Miller back on the sideline would provide Day with an insurance policy should something happen to starter C.J. Stroud or backup Kyle McCord against the Spartans.

A four-star recruit in the Class of 2020, Miller has played in four games this season, completing 7 of 14 passes for 101 yards.

Ohio State suspends backup QB Jack Miller after arrest

Ohio State backup quarterback Jack Miller was suspended from the team Friday after he was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired.

He was arrested by Ohio State Highway Patrol officers and released from custody with a summons to appear in court at a later date.

The school issued a statement confirming his arrest and suspension.

Miller, a redshirt freshman, wound up as the third string quarterback after competition in camp. C.J. Stroud, also a redshirt freshman, is entrenched as the starter with freshman Kyle McCord as his backup.

A four-star recruit in the Class of 2020, Miller has played in four games this season, completing 7 of 14 passes for 101 yards.

Quinn Ewers, who reclassified to the Class of 2021 and was its No. 1 recruit, is the other quarterback on scholarship for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State (7-1), No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings, will play at Nebraska (3-6) on Saturday.

C.J. Stroud named Ohio State starting quarterback

C.J. Stroud will start at quarterback for Ohio State when the Buckeyes open the season Sept. 2 at Minnesota.

Coach Ryan Day made the announcement Saturday morning. He’d been mostly tight-lipped during summer practices as Stroud battled for the position with fellow redshirt freshman Jack Miller and freshman Kyle McCord.

Stroud, a 6-foot-3 Southern Californian, was the No. 2 pro-style QB prospect in the Class of 2020, per the 247Sports composite. Miller, from Scottsdale, Ariz., was ranked No. 13 in the same class.

McCord, a five-star prospect from Mount Laurel, N.J., was the No. 6-ranked quarterback in the 2021 class.

Stroud appeared in three games in the abbreviated 2020 season, backing up Justin Fields. His season highlight was a 48-yard rushing touchdown against Michigan State.

In the spring game, he completed 16 of 22 pass attempts for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

Miller also had a rushing touchdown last season, scoring on a 2-yard run against Nebraska.
