Reports: Leonard Floyd, Allen Robinson set to leave Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are expected to release edge rusher Leonard Floyd and green-lighted wide receiver Allen Robinson’s efforts to find a trade partner, according to reports by ESPN and NFL Network on Monday.

The Rams will try to trade Floyd first, but his contract – including a $22 million cap hit in 2023 – stands as a serious hurdle. The Rams will save $3 million in cap space with a pre-June 1 release.

Floyd, 30, has 29 sacks in three seasons for the Rams, starting every game. He has 47.5 career sacks in 104 starts with the Rams and Chicago Bears (2016-19), who selected Floyd No. 9 overall in the 2016 draft.

The Rams are willing to pay a portion of Robinson’s $15.25 million guaranteed salary to help facilitate a trade, NFL Network reported.

The Rams signed Robinson to a three-year, $46.5 million contract in March 2022. He responded with 33 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns in 2022, playing in just 10 games.

The Rams are parting ways with Bobby Wagner and weighing trading Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Rams WR Allen Robinson II (foot) to have season-ending surgery

Rams wide receiver Allen Robinson II will be on the sidelines for the remainder of the season due to a foot injury that will require surgery, Los Angeles coach Sean McVay told reporters Sunday.

Robinson reportedly has a stress fracture in his foot that will require the insertion of a screw during surgery.

Robinson was limited in practice all week and ultimately was inactive for Sunday’s 26-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. McVay said a CT scan taken on Friday showed a stress fracture on the navicular bone in Robinson’s foot.

This news brings to a close what had been an underwhelming season for Robinson, 29, who came to the Rams in March after signing a three-year, $46.5 million contract. In 10 games this season, Robinson recorded five-plus catches only twice and went over 50 yards receiving three times. His 63 receiving yards against Carolina in Week 6 was his season high.

Robinson finishes the season with 33 receptions for 339 yards and three touchdowns.

Bears WR Allen Robinson (ankle) active vs. Buccaneers

Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson, who has been recovering from an ankle injury, is active for Sunday’s game at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Robinson, 28, who missed practice on Wednesday, returned to work out on Thursday and Friday. He initially suffered the injury in a 20-9 victory at the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 10 but had four catches for 53 yards in Chicago’s 24-14 home loss to the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 17.

Robinson is second on the Bears in catches (21) and receiving yards (234). Darnell Mooney leads Chicago with 25 receptions for 306 yards.

Chicago declared QB Nick Foles (coach’s decision), WR Breshad Perriman (coach’s decision), S Tashaun Gipson (hip) and DT Akiem Hicks (groin) inactive against Tampa Bay.

Report: Bears WR Allen Robinson (hamstring) sits practice with Dolphins

The Chicago Bears reportedly sat wide receiver Allen Robinson from a joint practice Wednesday with the Miami Dolphins because of a hamstring injury.

Per a report by 670 The Score, the team decided to keep its top wideout sidelined at the Soldier Field workout. It is unknown whether or not Robinson will participate in either Thursday’s joint practice or the teams’ preseason opener on Saturday.

Less than two weeks from his 28th birthday, Robinson will be playing the 2021 campaign on the franchise tag and will be paid $17.9 million this season.

Robinson recorded a career-high 102 catches and a team-best 1,250 receiving yards in 2020, his third season with the Bears. His six touchdown receptions trailed only tight end Jimmy Graham (eight) for the club lead. Robinson has caught 200 passes over the past two seasons.

In his previous seven NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2014-17) and Bears (since 2018), Robinson has recorded 457 receptions for 5,999 yards and 39 touchdowns in 88 career games (84 starts). A Pro Bowl selection in 2015, Robinson was originally a second-round pick (61st overall) by the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Bears WR Robinson in concussion protocol

Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson is in the NFL’s concussion protocol, coach Matt Nagy said Wednesday.

Robinson sustained a concussion during the Bears’ 24-10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday.

He did not return to the contest after being tackled by Rams safety Nick Scott following a 6-yard reception with over four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Robinson, 27, has team-leading totals in both catches (44) and receiving yards (544). He also has two touchdown receptions in seven games for the Bears (5-2), who host the New Orleans Saints (4-2) on Sunday.

Tight end Jimmy Graham is second on the team in catches with 27, while wideout Darnell Mooney’s 236 yards receiving are second on the club in that category.

Robinson has 399 catches for 5,293 yards and 35 touchdowns in 79 career games with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Bears. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2015 with the Jaguars.

Report: WR Robinson, Bears resume contract talks

Wide receiver Allen Robinson and the Chicago Bears are trying to work out a contract extension, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday.

According to Rapoport, contract talks have resumed between the two sides following a week in which Robinson deleted all references to his current team from his social media accounts. Media reports earlier in the week indicated Robinson felt disrespected by the initial contract offers extended by Chicago.

Robinson, 27, is in the final season of a three-year contract he signed as a free agent with the Bears in 2018. The $42 million deal averaged out to $14 million per season, and Robinson is presumably looking for more in his next contract.

Teammates and fans issued social media support for Robinson during the last few days, with the #ExtendAR hashtag gaining a foothold on Twitter for example.

Robinson has 360 receptions for 4,823 yards and 33 touchdowns over 73 games in his seven-year NFL career. A second-round draft pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars out of Penn State in 2014, Robinson forged a Pro Bowl season in 2015 with 80 catches for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns.

A knee injury wiped out Robinson’s 2017 season, but he’s been the Bears’ best receiver over the past three seasons (158, 1,975, 11 TDs). Last season, Robinson racked up a career-high 98 receptions for 1,147 yards and seven scores; he had five catches for 74 yards in the Bears’ 27-23 win at Detroit in Week 1.
